DSC_1392I have created this blog to help me gather and assemble over 40 years of my writing.

As a child, nothing made me happier than to create my own books and I was writing, illustrating and binding them all the time.

At age 10, I got a job in the back of the Aspen Times working for the German master-printer, Fritz Stammberger. My job was to run and clean the massive Heidelberg press.  I’m sure there is some law nowadays that would deem this reckless and illegal, but I was good at my job and I loved being in the print shop.

antonpressAt age 14, I became friends with Ray Underwood, an incredibly talented writer. It was the first time I realized that there was writing and there was writing! Writing is an art no less than music composition or painting or sculpture. There is schlock and there are treasures.

Ray inspired a desire in me to reach high and beyond mere ink on a page. I have kept a notebook at my bedside and desk ever since. I have box-loads of writing. Some good, some not worth the paper it is written on, but I’m not sure I am the one to judge.

At 55, I continue to write prolifically. This is in addition to all the art that I brought into the world, as my living has been made as an artist all these years. For a sampling visit my website at AntonUhl.com.
